What a week we have had here in Castlecabin. We were absolutely thrilled to be nominated for the Lean Manufacturing (Continuous Improvement – CI) Award from The Shannon Chamber. The nomination was for the successful application of the Lean Principles in the manufacturing of our new Premium Modular Units, more about those later!
We manufacture Buildings right here at our facility in Castletroy. Limerick so our team were keen to absorb and embrace the Lean Principles to ensure the highest standard finish on our Buildings. You can imagine our excitement when Shannon Chamber chose us among the Four Companies Shortlisted for the Inaugural Mid- West Continuous Improvement Award.
We soon realised we were in fantastic company. Our fellow nominees were Virgin Media (Limerick), The DAA and MicroSemi Ireland. The event itself proved to be a great experience for the Castlecabin team. We shared learnings with other Companies on how applying the Lean principles yielded strong improvements in their internal processes, particularly with Manufacturing. All in all, a great opportunity to see best practice in action. We gained some great feedback on our Presentation. Claude Costello – Network Chair and General Manager of Zimmer Biomet Ireland paid particular tribute to Castlecabin, as an Irish SME embracing the Lean Concept. Please see enclosed for Shannon Chambers press release for more information. We were delighted to congratulate Virgin Media Ireland on their excellent win and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We fully intend to be back next year!
We also got the opportunity to lend our support to our local secondary school Castletroy College with their “Who Wants To Be A Thousandaire” Fundraiser event. This turned out to be a fun filled Night as we watched Mam’s , Dad’s and Kids alike battling to answer the Quiz Questions.
And how was your week ? See you all again at the next posting.
Best Wishes for the Week Ahead,
The Castlecabin Team.
